Sinergia Animal’s mission is to reduce animal suffering. We run campaigns and negotiations that ask major food companies to transition their supply chains to exclusively use cage-free systems and phase out the use of battery cages for laying hens, one of the cruelest forms of animal confinement. For this reason, we find it vital to visit and check how animals are being kept and treated in cage-free farms in the countries where we operate. Although animal production without cruelty does not exist and no animals should be farmed and killed for food, these images from Brazilian and Indonesian cage-free and free-range egg farms show that these systems can significantly reduce suffering. Animals are able to move around, socialize and carry out most of their natural behaviors.
