PERUVIAN EGG FARMS
Pictures taken in a battery cage egg farm near the city of Iquitos in the Peruvian Amazon in July 2019 show thousands of hens exposed to high temperatures in crowded cages and filthy sheds. Many of the animals were gasping because of the hot weather, and some hens had feather loss in their necks. Nearly 98% of Peruvian egg production is made in this cruel confinement system.
