Mercado de Hacienda de Liniers is a market in the province of Buenos Aires where farmers sell old dairy cows to different slaughterhouses. The images show bruised, scarred, bone-marked cows lying in their own feces. Approximately 40,000 animals are traded in the market each week. The travel from the farm to the market can take hours. Cows are kept in crowded barns without room to lie down comfortably. They are forced to stay like this, without access to water and food, even during extreme climate events.
